Stroke Services

Have your say on the future of stroke services across Lancashire & South Cumbria

People living across Lancashire and South Cumbria have been asked to have their say on planned improvements to stroke services.

The NHS in the region has approved funding for proposals to enhance acute stroke centres. The proposals require a capital investment of £5.7million and an ongoing revenue investment of £13.8million, which will enhance the facilities, equipment and staffing at all existing acute stroke centres in four hospital trusts, as well as supporting investment in the North West Ambulance Service.

The proposals are to be implemented over a three-year period, with the final enhancements taking place in 2023/24.

Full information, frequently asked questions and a survey to provide your views is available at www.healthierlsc.co.uk/public-engagement-enhancing-acute-stroke-services

The NHS would especially like to hear from people with high blood pressure, atrial fibrillation, high cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease and a mini stroke (TIA).

All comments will be fed back to the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Stroke and Neurorehabilitation Delivery Network (ISNDN), which is responsible for developing and delivering enhanced stroke services, as part of the implementation process.

Feedback should be submitted by Friday 3 December 2021.
